I received some lovely Letraset Tria Markers and so after using them for a couple of weeks here’s what i’ve found.

The Letraset Tria Markers are Letraset’s professional marker range. After using the Tria’s, I found they were equal in terms of smoothness moving on paper and consistency/smoothness in colour & coverage as the Promarkers, but where they top the Promarkers in in their customisation and colours. There are various nibs available and they can be chopped and changed as and when you need them, providing ultimate control and maximum flexibility. They also have 300 colours in the Tria range giving you a greater choice if accuracy is essential.

Tria’s will set you back anywhere between £3.50 ($5.80 approx) for an individual marker and £864.00 ($1,452.963 approx) for a whopping 300 marker pen set.

The pens are a lot more comfortable to hold than the Promarkers, but this would only be noticed over a few hours of constant use. The nibs supplied have a similar brush nib and square marker nib as the Promarkers, but also come with an additional fine nib allowing more precise control and detailing. Letraset also have alot of additional nibs that can be purchase including a cone shaped nib, large bullet shaped nib, calligraphy nib and an ultra fine nib.

I have one criticism which is that of the pens I have used, the lid does not have that ’satisfying click’ when you put it on. Now call me obsessive but this leads me to check if it is on properly, as I wouldn’t want a £3.50 pen to dry out quickly! However, doulbe checking the lid is on is a small price to pay for the sheer quality of the finish you can get from using these markers.

In conclusion, these pens are amazing and definitely would be my first choice. When you come to a piece of work where you need a precise colour or a higher level of control/flexibility in terms of nib, the Tria’s are the way to go. However, they are quite expensive and if cost is an issue, then the Promarkers are very good cheaper alternatives.

I was lucky enough to receive my copy of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 a day early as I ordered it online and Parcelforce delivered it early!

After patiently waiting all day to play it, I started up the PS3 to find I had to run an update. It was a relatively quick one though and I was surprised to find that the game also needed to update (15mb) before playing.

The graphics and setup are the game are fantastic and offers excellent new levels of game play. I have decided to break this review down into numerous parts as I had the intention of playing each mode of the game, but after starting the single player campaign mode I was so engrossed, I sat for about 3/4 hours without getting up!

Campaign Mode

I managed to complete about 5 missions and racked up 7% of the PS3 trophies. Each mission is played from a different characters’ perspective which ensures the game play stays fresh and avoids repetition. The first few missions draw you into the game with snowmobiles, climbing up icy rock faces, controlling a Gatling gun in the Humvee and defending yourself from dog attacks.

I need to play the game more to give a more in-depth review (that’s my excuse and I am sticking to it!) but will definitely be updating you all soon on the campaign mode, special ops and some of the other great features of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

One quick note, if you are planning on buying this as an Xmas gift, make sure it is suitable for whomever you are buying it for – The game contains extremely violent content (to the point where it has a warning and an option to remove some scenes from the game) an is definitely not suitable for children (hence the 18+ rating).

Please keep a lookout for Part 2 of the review…

This is not to say that they cannot be used for professional purposes and with them you can achieve some fantastic results. Pro Marker’s are twin-tipped, with a fine-point end (a similar size to that of a standard felt-tip) and a wide standard square marker tip. Because they are alcohol-based, they are great at giving even coverage, smoothness and getting those all important gradients/shading when used with a blender pen.

The colour range is limited in comparison to the Tria range, but if you really needed the extensive colour-range, you should probably be looking more towards the Tria’s or other professional level marker range such as Copic’s Pro range.

There are a few accessories available for Pro Marker’s including an airbrush gun (which fits most standard air propellant cans available from craft/art stores), wallets and stands.

For best results, Pro Marker’s should only be used with acid-free, bleed-proof marker pads and from personal experience I have gained great results with both Letraset marker pads and Copic marker pads.

Conclusion
The Letraset Pro Marker offers a very high performance for a relatively low cost. For an entry-level alcohol-based marker, they really do offer unrivalled smoothness and you can pick them up for less than the cost of Copic’s entry-level markers, the Copic Ciao Range. A limited colour range and limited number of nibs limits what can be achieved with Letraset Pro Markers, but they are a great starting point for those who wish to take their illustration work to the next level, but can’t/won’t fork out for a pricey set of Letraset Tria’s or Copic Professional Markers.

Pro’s:
- low cost
- great quality
- accessories
- wide availability
- unrivalled smoothness

Con’s:
- limited colour range
- only two nibs (in comparison to Tria’s number of nibs)

Rating: 4/5

I was recently introduced to an iPhone game by some friends entitled ‘tap tap revenge’. I had seen the game in the app store and had never bothered to download it.

They encouraged me to do so and I have since been addicted! It’s similar in gameplay to guitar hero and you simply tap the notes as they pass the line at the bottom of the screen. I was stunned to see that they have some really good music – I thought it would all be unsigned acts as the app was free.

What’s More you can play online and against friends!

If you have an iPhone or an ipod Touch, Tap Tap Revenge is definitely worth downloading!
