Here at OxCreative, not only do we like art, illustration, urban vinyl and graffiti, but we also take a bit of a fancy to web design! We also like to promote beautiful design and today is no exception!
I am constantly surfing online and it would seem a lot of designers’ websites/agency websites are stale and boring – using the same ol’ colours, the same ol’ way – with the same “look at our bizarre layout… we’re quirky” designs.
Some of these “fantastic” agency’s websites are so similar you’d struggle to pick them out of a line-up.
However, whilst surfing the web I found an article on amending CSS for the iPhone on a website called www.squaregirl.com. It’s the first time in a while where I have been taken back by a website design, that in my eyes, is near flawless.
This is a good use of colours, gradients, textures and layout with a methodical approach to usability.

Andrew Bell has released images of his final piece for the 626 Experiment show and boy have they overmet our expectations! His magnificent mutilation of the Stitch figure to create to separate is nothing short of a stroke of genius! Check out more pictures at Mr Bell’s website or on flickr.

This weekend I went to Manchester and whilst I unfortunately didn’t have time to visit the Richard Goodall Gallery, I did manage to find a great artist in Manchester city centre who was working on a few pieces for an upcoming exhibition. It’s a shame that the crummy camera on the iPhone 3G doesn’t show the true magnificence of this work but as I forgot to bring my SLR, it was my only option. I didn’t manage to catch his name but if anyone knows who he is, drop us an email or tweet and if he has a website, we’ll get a link to it and search the net for more of his fantastic artwork!

After alot of contemplation, I decided to redesign the site one last time (for a year or so at least!). There are alot of changes not only visually but also in the structure. I have removed my portfolio, gallery and content focused on myself and have decided to push the site in a new direction. (more…)
