Following on from my review of Letraset Markers, I thought it would be a good idea to review Letraset Bleedproof Marker pads.

letraset_pad

The Letraset Bleedproof Marker pad is a high quality solution for working with alcohol-based marker pens. It’s brilliant white finish ensures a good start and its extra smooth surface makes the markers glide effortlessly across the page. In each pad you get 50 sheets, which for the cost isn’t bad. The 70gsm has both it’s pro’s and cons. It feels flimsy and is easily torn. On the other hand, if you like to complete your sketches, inking and colouring on seperate sheets, it is idea with a lightbox and allows maximum visibilty of any sheets below it. Suprisingly, Letraset offer a thinner 60gsm layout pad which they state is for drafts and tracing – though I found that the 70gsm is perfectly fine as a tacing paper in a correctly lit room or with a lightbox.

The binding of the pad leaves alot to be desired as merely turning a page often makes them seperate from the pad – not ideal if you’re out and don’t have a folder to put loose sheets in meaning your work may get damage.

Conclusion

The Letraset BleedProof Marker Pad is a necessity when working with alcohol-based markers. It offers good bleed-resistance, and is thin enough to see sheets below when tracing. For around ¬£5.00 for 50 sheets, it’s not the cheapest material to work with but as a speciality paper it’s good for final pieces.

Pro’s

- thin for tracing

- excellent bleed-resistance

- ultra-white

- smooth surface for even coverage

Con’s

- poor glue binding

- tears easily
